Liberty Township, Butler County, is seeking applicants for Fire Chief. Liberty Township is a progressive, rapidly growing community located in southeastern Butler County, 20 miles north of Cincinnati. Liberty Township is known for its high quality of life, varied housing mix and expanding commercial development. The Liberty Township Fire Department is a combination department with 34 career and 65 part-time personnel operating out of three fire stations. The department is a full-service agency that provides emergency response services and community outreach to approximately 40,000 residents in an area spanning 29 square miles.
The Fire Chief reports directly to the Township Administrator and works as part of the township’s executive management team. This position requires an energetic and established leader with strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to develop strong working relationships. Successful applicants will have experience in strategic planning, possess astute financial management skills and have a broad background in all aspects of service delivery. Experience in a combination department is a plus.
Applicants should have a proven record of leadership with a minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible full-time fire service experience, with five or more years of permanent assignment as a command officer (i.e. Captain or above). Experience in an executive level position such as an Assistant Chief or Deputy Chief is highly desirable. Applicants must possess the following Ohio certifications: Firefighter II, EMT-B, CFSI, fire or EMS instructor and a valid Ohio Operator’s License. A bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or completion of an advanced degree, the Ohio Fire Executive Program (OFE) or Executive Fire Officer Program (EFO) is preferred. The successful applicant must be in good physical condition and have the ability to pass all pre-employment screenings including a psychological and physical examination and drug screening.
The salary range for the position is $95,000 - $125,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience, and includes a comprehensive benefit package.
