Fire and EMS Chief

Wayne Township is located in the northeastern corner of Clermont County, Ohio bordering Warren, Brown and Clinton Counties. The township is located 37 miles northeast of the City of Cincinnati an entertainment and sports hub for southwest Ohio.
Wayne Township Fire and Rescue is a combination department that provides both fire and EMS services. Staffed by a career Fire Chief, eight career personnel, eleven part-time personnel, and thirteen Paid-on-Call fire and EMS personnel. The department provides fire service to 32 square miles and EMS service to 41 square miles. The fire department operates out of two fire stations housing fire and EMS apparatus, however, only the main station is manned daily.
Under the general direction of the Township Administrator, the Fire Chief provides administrative direction and leadership for all functions, operations and department personnel in accomplishing the fire departments mission of protecting life and property. Key responsibilities include emergency response leadership, budget preparation, policy development, staff performance management, and fostering positive relationships with mutual aid partners throughout the region. This role requires someone who is a strategic leader committed to operational excellence, team development, and public safety.
Education and Experience: A bachelor’s degree in fire service, fire service administration, public or business management or a related field is preferred. Ten (10) years of broad fire department experience with increasing levels of responsibility in management and supervisory positions, including four (4) years’ experience with fire department administration. Experience operating as an Incident Commander managing a variety of types of emergency scenes is critical. Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training necessary to perform the work will be considered. The position requires Firefighter 2, Ohio Paramedic, Fire Safety Inspector and a valid Ohio Driver’s License. Emergency Services Instructor 2 is preferred.
Salary will depend on qualifications and be commensurate with experience.
