As the 2015 workers’ comp policy year comes to a close on June 30th, there are always a few loose ends to tie up. There is also a critical deadline coming up for the BWC’s True-up.

Upcoming Deadlines:
June 30, 2016

- deadline to complete Safety Council participation requirements for the 2015 policy year.
- deadline to complete Industry Specific Safety Program loss prevention activities for the 2015 policy year.
- due date for the first 2016 policy year premium installment.
- July 1, 2016
- BWC will send the 2015 policy year true-up notice. Employers report actual July 1, 2015 – June 30, 2016 payroll and any variance will be calculated from the estimated payroll.
- August 15, 2016 is the due date for the true-up report to be completed with BWC. This is a critical deadline, as the BWC has indicated that if you do not file your true-up on time, your business may not be eligible for current and future alternative rating and premium discount programs such as group rating and group retrospective rating. Reports must be submitted either online (bwc.ohio.gov) or by phone at 800.644.6292.
- July 1, 2016 marks the beginning the 2016 policy year.
- Two Hour Safety Training: For your members who participate in either a group rating or group retro program, the 2015 two-hour group safety training requirement is due by June 30th, if the company had a claim occur between 1/1/2014 and 9/30/2014. For businesses that have not completed this requirements, here are two options:
- Take online training courses through the RiskControl360° website, which has been updated with new courses and an easier payment process. Please visit riskcontrol360.com/online-training to view our catalog of courses available in different time increments.
Once the two hours of training have been completed, certificates can be submitted to us by email at twohourtraining@careworkscomp.com
- Updates to OSHA Injury Data Collection: You may have heard that OSHA has issued a final rule that will modernize injury data collection to better inform workers, employers, the public, and OSHA about workplace hazards. With this new rule, which takes effect 8/10/16, OSHA is applying the insights of behavioral economics to improve workplace safety and prevent injuries and illnesses.
