The City of Huber Heights, Ohio, located just minutes from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and in close proximity of the Dayton International Airport and the I-75/I-70 “Crossroads of America” interchange with a population of 43,439, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of full-time Firefighter/Paramedic.
The City of Huber Heights is a progressive Fire Division that is comprised of 68 career Firefighter/Paramedics/EMT’s running out of three stations serving the community utilizing state-of-the-art equipment and procedures. The Fire Division currently responds to over 8000 calls for service annually. The City is conducting oral interviews to establish an eligibility list to fill immediate openings for the position of full-time Firefighter/Paramedic.
Prior to appointment, the candidate must submit to an extensive background investigation, truth verification test, drug screen, physical ability test (if entry level), physical and psychological examination. The approximate date for interviews will be the week beginning January 12, 2026, at Fire Division Headquarters, 7008 Brandt Pike. Individuals will be ranked based on their interview scores.
Minimum Requirements: Applicant must be at least 18 years of age; High School Diploma or GED equivalent; possess a valid Ohio Driver’s License; possess a State of Ohio Level II Firefighter and Paramedic Certificates.
Pending final legislative approval, the 2026 total compensation package for a top step Firefighter/Paramedic will be over $99,000 not including additional compensation for overtime (1.5 times the 40-hour rate), FLSA, or holidays worked. Upon final legislative approval, it is planned that there will be an annual increase of 4% through 2028; one EDO each month, plus one floating EDO. Additional benefits include, but are not limited to, an annual holiday bonus of 96 hours, sick leave accrual, and vacation accrual (up to 15 days based on previous full-time Ohio public service credit), employer paid life insurance, and excellent health insurance benefits to include 100% employer paid medical insurance premium and generous contributions to HSA or HRA.
