Fire Chief Position: Senior Fire Department official responsible for providing leadership and direction; to plan, manage, and oversee the activities and operations of the Fire Department by establishing goals and objectives within the policy directives set forth by the City. Responsible for administering all administrative, operational, and fiscal aspects of the Fire Department and ensuring the protection of lives and property within the City from uncontrolled fire and medical emergencies.

Qualifications: An example of acceptable qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from accredited four (4) year college/university in Fire Science, Public Administration, Management, or related field, ten (10) years experience as a Firefighter/Paramedic, and at least ten (10) years of command experience as a Fire Captain or equivalent, or any equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties. Possess familiarity in progressive responsibility, including administrative, supervisory, and budgetary experience in Fire Prevention and suppression work preferably with a municipality, county or state fire department or district. Preferred Master’s degree and Executive Fire Officer (EFO) or Ohio Fire Executive (OFE). Must pass background check.
Licensure or Certification Requirements: Must have and maintain certification by the State of Ohio as a State of Ohio EMT; certification by the State of Ohio as a Fire Fighter; valid Ohio driver’s license and remain insurable under the City’s vehicle insurance policy.
Starting Salary: Annual rate of up to $132,761.62
