Danbury Township Volunteer Fire Department
The Danbury Township Trustees are accepting applications for the position of Fire Chief. The Danbury Township Volunteer Fire Department serves the residents of Danbury Twp. and the Village of Marblehead in Ottawa County, Ohio. This department resulted as a merger between the Marblehead Vol. Fire Dept and the Lakeside Vol. Fire Dept. in July of 2013. Average calls per year are approximately 800 with 75% of those being EMS related.
Competencies Required Included: Knowledge of and ability to apply modern fire administration and management techniques including organization, staffing, financing, budgeting, equipment management and maintenance, as well as short and long-range operational planning.
Desired Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree in Fire Science, Public Administration or a related field is preferred. An Associate Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in Fire Science with Executive Fire Officer Training is a plus. Possession of the following: State of Ohio Level I Firefighter certification and State E.M.T. certification. Preferred licensed paramedic, but not required. The possession of or the ability to obtain certification in the following within two years of appointment: Emergency Medical Services and/or Fire Instructor Certificate, State of Ohio Fire Safety Inspector and certification as a Fire Investigator. Any combination of education, ranting and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of this job. Applicant must have at least seven (7) years of experience in fire or emergency medical service work, three years of which must have been equivalent to fire lieutenant or higher. Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Thorough knowledge of modern fire suppression and prevention and emergency medical services principles, procedures, techniques, and equipment. Working knowledge of first aid and resuscitation techniques and their application as demonstrated through State E.M.T. certification.
Compensation: Pay range $40,000-$48,000 dependent on experience. Comprehensive benefits package.
