Foundational Leadership Program: Designing Tomorrow's Leader

Adapted for the Fire Service from the Book The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership by John C. Maxwell

This 3-day course presents leadership tenets that have influenced managers and leaders worldwide. Leadership determines the level of effectiveness and influence we have on others and organizations. When all is said and done, it is "leadership" that has caused the action. To become an effective leader, the firefighter must know what it takes to make people want to follow. The team approach and the ability to influence others will be the crux of success, but without leadership, the cause is lost before it starts.

Leadership traits are timeless.

This course covers lessons on each of Maxwell’s 21 laws, along with small-group and large-group activities, reading assignments, oral presentations, and six assignments due after class. The post-class assignments are what make this course unique and have received high praise in evaluations. They offer an opportunity to apply what you've learned with a mentor's help in solving real problems. EXPERIENCE is the key to our growth. Reflecting on what was successful and what failed helps us improve. The mistaken belief that others must always adapt to OUR ways reduces effectiveness.

"Everything rises and falls on LEADERSHIP!"
